Corporate headshots for an entrepreneur

Joseph Nathan needed some new headshots to go along with his new business venture.

The first two were shot in the studio to recreate a very specific style that Joseph was after:

For this 3rd image, we stepped outside for a more casual look that he could use for social networking.

Best of luck with the new business venture mate!

Shiny new, press release ready photographs for a couple of troublemakers

I’ve been really enjoying the PR Photography I’ve been doing lately. Especially when it involves characters like these guys.

Jargon PR commissioned me to provide images of their client, AP HR Solutions, that they could use for some upcoming press coverage. AP HR Solutions specialise in HR Consultancy, Coaching and Recruitment, so I was expecting a pretty straight forward, standard corporate shoot. Hmm..

Kevin, the UK MD, is a constant laugh. Business partner Paul is making sure he gets a few cracks in about the fact I’m Australian. I return the favour when shooting the two of them though. Unfortunately I was threatened with legal action if I show the out takes from the shoot, but I’ll leave it up to your imagination.

Here’s a few safe for publication images

I recently photographed the UK’s leading life coach, Mr Rasheed Ogunlaru. Rasheed wanted some updated PR imagery to go along with his new website www.rasaru.com. I wanted our studio pics to look really fresh, warm and welcoming, so opted to go for a nice seamless orange

Next we hit the outside world to grab a few shots around Tower Bridge. This location appeared along the way with funky spotlights that were on the surrounding walls. A quick climb up the wall to reposition them, add in a reflector and away we go

It was getting quite dark and poor Rasheed was getting a bit frozen, so we headed to our final destination to finish off the shoot. First image is lit with plain white flash through a white umbrella

I felt it was looking a bit cold, so added a blue gel to the flash, then corrected the colour back in camera to a neutral foreground. This results in sending any areas not lit by the flash orange

Warm background achieved, so we worked on the last few pics and wrapped up Rasheed in his jacket again!

Cheers Rasheed for a fun PR shoot and pushing through despite the cold London evening!

Unexpected surprise

Yes, that was the headline to this magazine ad. Here’s how we went about creating the shot.

First, I wanted the outside of the oven to have the feeling of natural window lighting, so used a large octagon softbox:

Next, I covered the front of my smallest flash with an orange gel and set it up to be wirelessly triggered inside the oven. I wanted the glow to radiate from the top, so the elements inside the oven were covered with aluminum foil. This then allowed the flash to bounce from above and float back over the bun with a beautiful warm light:

This still left a portion of the flash visible:

So some minor retouching and it’s good to go!
